JAPANESE STAFF

Ms. Sakiyama is a patent paralegal handling all aspects of the patent prosecution process as well as Japanese client service and relations.  She brings a wealth of experience in not only in all phases of patent prosecution, but also international business.  As a native Japanese speaker, she is often called on to translate documents, interpret meetings, facilitate client requests, and otherwise assist firm members to maximize the ease and effectiveness of cooperation with our Japanese clients.  Before joining K&B, Ms. Sakiyama held positions at All Nippon Airways (ANA) in Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service.  She has a BA in International Relationship from Osaka University of Foreign Studies.

Ms. Slate has over 17 years of work experience in the legal and financial industries. Since joining Keating & Bennett in 2015, Ms. Slate has focused on filing and prosecution of U.S. patent applications and Japanese client communications and relations. A native of Japan, she facilitates communication with Japanese clients and assists attorneys with translation as requested.

Prior to transitioning to the IP industry, Ms. Slate served in the underwriting department of a major Japanese investment bank where she managed aspects of the issuance of new securities overseas.  As a program manager for an international firm based in Japan, she was responsible for managing installations of financial systems for multinational companies in the East Asia.

Ms. Slate earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.
